Common Questions and answers for Kindergarten Parents

Welcome to Mr. Baker's Kindergarten Class

Dear Parents/Caregivers:

Welcome to Kindergarten! We are looking forward to an exciting year. I would like to welcome you and your child to Kindergarten.
Included below are some questions that many parents/caregivers commonly ask before school begins

9:30 – 3:00 Gold Class
11:15 -11:40 p.m. Lunch
Minimum days Maroon and Gold Classes attend from 8:00 – 12:00

What time may my child arrive at school?
Children may arrive at school at 7:45 a.m. At this time they wait outside, or in the classroom if it is raining, until 8:00 a.m. Playground supervision is provided.

What is the Schedule for the first week of school?
Thursday, August 18 Maroon and Gold Classes 8:00 – 12:00
Friday, August 19 Maroon and Gold Classes attend from 8:00 – 12:00

What does my child wear for the first day of school?
For the first week students are to wear their regular uniform. The following week students are to wear their regular uniform on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Tuesday and Thursdays are PE days when students will be required to wear PE uniforms.

What’s for Lunch?
Students may bring their own lunches or purchase lunch through the office. Cafeteria lunches are available on minimum days. Lunches through the cafeteria are each $3.50.

What is the procedure when my child is sick or unable to attend school?
Please phone the school or send a note to your child's teacher with one of her/his classmates or siblings.

May I be a parent volunteer?
Yes, there are numerous ways you can help. Please make arrangements with me. Individuals, who would like to volunteer in the classroom, need to complete the on line shield the venerable
program and complete a live scan through the Diocese. This includes individuals who wish to drive on field trips.

I would like to help volunteer, but I work during school hours. How may I help?
You are welcome to come to the classroom whenever you are able to, even if it is for a short period of time. Please contact me and we will discuss ways you could help outside of school
hours.

Are snacks required?
No, but your child may bring nutritious snacks to eat outside during recesses, if desired.

Is it necessary to label all my child's belongings?
Yes, please do label all your child's belongings. Children easily confuse jackets, sweatshirts, backpacks, and lunch pails.

What is a 6th grade buddy?
Your Kindergartener will be paired with a sixth grade student for the year. The classes join every minimum day to work on projects, reading, or math activities. The classes will have pre planned picnic days throughout the year. During the holiday, season buddies will exchange Christmas gifts.

Where do I pick up my child at dismissal?
Please wait in the hallway outside the Kindergarten classroom.

Should I inform the teacher of any special after-school arrangements? (day-care, walking home with someone else, etc.)
Please inform me of where and with whom your child should go after school. As young children can easily forget, please send a note if any special circumstances arise.

There will be a Back to School Night for parents/caregivers early in the school year to discuss the Kindergarten program, report cards, curriculum etc.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions.

Cheerfully in Christ,

Mr. Baker
